3. A Brief History of RRB NTPC

Railway Recruitment Board also known as RRB, it is the government agency that recruits candidates for Group-C and Group-D posts. The Ministry of Railways had established the RRB recruitment board in the year 1998 in New Delhi. This organization is responsible for Staff selection and Recruitment of Civil Service and Engineering departments.

Certainly, the foundation for RRB recruitment was laid by the Service Commission in 1942. It was formed to recruit subordinate staff members in North Western Railway. Later in 1945, a commission was established in Bombay, Calcutta, Lucknow and Madras. And was reviewed in the year 1948 but due to economic constraints it was banned in  1949. But from 1956 to 1984, the constitution of the Railway Service Commission approved all the estimated commissions laid by the Recruitment Board of Railway Service. 

In addition, the Railway Service Commission was renamed as Railway Recruitment Board in 1985. Presently in India, 21 railway recruitment boards work under the Government of India to manage and onboard new employees in the Railway Department.
