Constable – General Duty
SSC GD Constable : Staff Selection Commission Examination
The Staff Selection Commission will conduct an open examination for recruitment to the posts of Constable (General Duty) in Border Security Force (BSF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), National Investigation Agency (NIA) and Secretariat Security Force (SSF) and Rifleman (General Duty) in Assam Rifles as per the Recruitment Scheme formulated by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and as per the Memorandum of Understanding signed between Ministry of Home Affairs and the Staff Selection Commission. The recruitment process will consist of Computer Based Examination (CBE), Physical Efficiency Test (PET), Physical Standard Test (PST) and Medical Examination.

Pregnant women are disqualified from taking this test.
Ex-Servicemen candidates shortlisted in the CBE need to appear in PET/PST stage for recording measurement of chest, height and weight only. They are exempted from taking the PET. However, they need to qualify for the Detailed Medical Examination (DME).

SSC GD Eligibility Criteria as per Nationality mandates a candidate to be a resident of the prescribed states only. Candidates belonging to these states will be eligible to apply for SSC GD. An applicant must fulfill any one of the following conditions:
- A citizen of India
- A citizen of Nepal
- A citizen of Bhutan
- A Tibetan refugee settled in India before 1st January 1962
- Indian by origin, who has migrated Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (Formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of staying permanently in India.

Tentative dates of issue of Notices of different Examinations are given in the Annual Calendar of Examinations. It is therefore advised to regularly visit the website of the Commission for latest updates.
Yes, One-Time Registration with the Commission is a mandatory prerequisite. On completion of One-Time Registration, candidates can apply online for any examination of the Commission.
No, If the candidate has registered once after 20-07-2018, she/ he has to use the same ‘Registration Number’ and ‘SSC Registration Password’ for applying to various examinations conducted by the Commission.
Check size and format of photograph and signature files. Scanned colour passport size photograph should be in JPEG format and file size of the photograph should be in the range of 20 Staff Selection Commission Frequently Asked Questions Page 2 KB to 50 KB. Image dimension of the photograph should be about 3.5 cm (width) x 4.5 cm (height). Similarly, scanned signature file should be in JPEG format having file size ranging from 10 KB to 20 KB. Image dimension of the signature should be about 4.0 cm (width) x 3.0 cm (height). The image of the signature should occupy at least 75% of the frame.
