Candidate should be a graduate (Degree) in any discipline from a University recognized by the Govt. of India or any equivalent qualification recognized as such by the Central Government.
Age Limit
The minimum age to apply for the SBI PO exam is 20 years. Age-relaxation varies from one category to another. The following table tells the SBI PO Age Eligibility for different categories and posts:

SBI PO offers a provision of age relaxation for candidates from all reserved categories. Candidates must keep in mind the SBI PO Age Limit before filling the application form. Relaxation of the upper age limit for the various categories is shown in the table below.

SBI PO Eligibility Criteria as per Nationality mandates a candidate to be a resident of the prescribed states only. Candidates belonging to these states will be eligible to apply for SBI PO. An applicant must fulfill any one of the following conditions:
- A citizen of India
- A citizen of Nepal
- A citizen of Bhutan
- A Tibetan refugee settled in India before 1st January 1962
- Indian by origin, who has migrated Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (Formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of staying permanently in India.

Age limit: 21 to 30 years only (as on April 1, 2017)
Essential educational qualification: Graduation in any discipline from a recognized university or any equivalent qualification recognized by the Central Government. Those who are in the final year / semester of their graduation may also apply, if called for interview. However, they will have to provide a proof of having passed the graduation examination on or before July 1, 2017.

Please note: The number of chances will be counted from the examination held on April 18, 2010. Also, appearing in Preliminary Examinations will not be counted as a chance.
The various stages of the SBI PO are as follows:
- Preliminary exam
- Mains exam
- Group Exercises and Personal Interview
Candidates in the final year/semester of graduation can apply provisionally subject to the condition, if they are called for interview, have to produce proof of having passed the graduation.
The descriptive test will consist of two questions which include letter and essay. The descriptive test is of maximum 50 marks and must be attempted within 30 minutes duration.
