Candidates should be a graduate (Degree) in any discipline from a University recognized by the Govt. of India or any equivalent qualification recognized as such by the Central Government.
Age Limit
The minimum age to apply for the LIC Assistant exam is 18 years. Age-relaxation varies from one category to another. The following table tells the LIC Assistant Age Eligibility for different categories and posts:

LIC Assistant offers a provision of age relaxation for candidates from all reserved categories. Candidates must keep in mind the LIC Assistant Age Limit before filling the application form. Relaxation of the upper age limit for the various categories is shown in the table below.

LIC Assistant Eligibility Criteria as per Nationality mandates a candidate to be a resident of the prescribed states only. Candidates belonging to these states will be eligible to apply for LIC Assistant. An applicant must fulfill any one of the following conditions:
- A citizen of India
- A citizen of Nepal
- A citizen of Bhutan
- A Tibetan refugee settled in India before 1st January 1962
- Indian by origin, who has migrated Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (Formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of staying permanently in India.
